Tallies is intentionally small. Most questions can be answered in the FAQ below. If you don't find what you need, send a note.
From the home screen, tap any item row to open its tally canvas. Then swipe vertically in the bottom area marked "swipe to mark." Each swipe draws a single felt-marker stroke. Five strokes form a complete tally group.
On the tally canvas, tap the Undo button at the bottom. Or long-press any historical mark in the grid to delete that specific one.
From the home screen, tap the book icon in the top-right to open Settings. Tap New Journal. Give it a name and create. Then add items inside it the same way.
Yes. If you're signed into iCloud on multiple Apple devices, Tallies syncs automatically using your private iCloud account. There's no separate account or login. Sync usually takes a few seconds.
Long-press an empty area of your iPhone home screen, tap the + in the top-left, scroll or search for Tallies, and choose either the small Tally widget (one item) or the large Journal widget (a whole journal). After adding, tap the widget and select Edit Widget to choose which item or journal to display. Tapping the widget opens the app directly to that item.
iOS controls how often widgets refresh — typically every 15 to 30 minutes for battery reasons. The widget always shows the latest data when iOS refreshes it. To force a refresh, tap the widget once (which opens the app) and the widget reloads.
Not in this version. Export to PDF or CSV is on the roadmap.

No. Streaks pull the experience toward gamification. Tallies is meant to feel like a notebook, not a game.
